Fine picture sepia tone looks better.
V1 has the edge Potra, time captured memories.

I don't think your comment is silly, Marian.
We all have those type of thoughts.

The images might benefit from brightening but they tell your story accurately.
Well done.

It's certainly not silly, Marian. Surely we must all feel this, sometimes. But I always try to remember that we don't just lose things that were good, we also lose things that were bad.

Nothing seems as beautiful as it was Marian, or maybe it's that we are looking at things with less than youthful Eyes? Love this old image, a very unusual and nicely composed shot.

V 1 is just wonderful...
I am going down memory lane as a child living in Australia.....
Not too keen on the white corners though....
But looking at my ancient photo album the corners holding the photos in are still white....
Keep your inspiring photos and thoughts coming!!

Photos of the past always have a special value. Just think that at some time in the future people will be getting all sentimental looking at images from today.Smile

Ivor: I wonder if, in the future, there will be any photographs to view.

I like the great period feel produced, Marian. Got the inspiration from you and tried to shoot palm leaves, but failed to get a decent shot.

I love the sepia toning in V1 - the palm trees and beach umbrellas look so exotic to us in G.B.

Thanks to all for your kind comments. Although I am a relentless optimist sometimes the situation in my country gets to my heart. I aged this picture while wishing one could bring things the way they were sometime in the past, when there was less money and more beauty.

Nezih, I can only repeat what Cartier-Bresson said about the first 10,000 pictures being the worst ones. Wink

I like both images. Your title is very right.
When I go to Portugal I get the same thoughts as your title...
Some areas that used to be so quaint have been ruined with apartments to acommodate the Tourist Industry... The fishing boats has been removed from most beaches to make room for deck chairs and some wonderful orchands have disapeared to set up the fields as golf courses...
Sad the price we pay for it all... Beauty for the "gold" beast...
