She looks like she puts all of her self into song. Great portrait, Marian.

Thanks for the votes and comments. My internet connection is quite erratic and my laptop is turning itself off. I will try to comment on your pictures as soon as this situation is resolved. Sad

Things that are wrong - Highlights are blown, she's looking out of the picture, not very sharp.

Things that are right - Everything, you have captured the moment perfectly. It is an image with something to say and all of the technical stuff doesn't matter, it works and I like it a huge amount. Well done.

Love the hands and mouth but that forehead is too obvious
Any chance of cropping it just above the eyes?

It's all wrong yet all right. This isn't about photographic technique and technicalities, but is all about capturing the moment.
Is she the performer, or someone applauding the performer and living the moment together with them?

She is singing some XVI century Spanish song. The group of 6 talented ladies is called "Musica Reservata" they specialize in Medieval and Renaissance music. Those are her hands.

I will give it a try later, my dear F.G. Your suggestions usually work well.

My decision was to take a high key picture accepting the fact that the sun was exactly on top of her. I couldn't fight it so I used it as much as I could.

If it looks the way you wanted it to, then it's right. That's the only time in art that words like 'right' and 'wrong' have any meaning.
Superbly caught moment, Marian.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment my picture. I am always looking forward to reading the opinions of my fellow EPZers because I am never sure about the rules. I only follow my instinct and my sense of beauty and balance.

Yes!!!! That's exactly what I wanted, a picture of light and color and movement. It only lacks the sound, which was excellent. These ladies are very talented musicians.
It is not in the frame as I would've wanted but they were moving and I was pretty far away from them. Considering that I wasn't using tripod I am very happy with the results. SmileWink

That's all you need.
The "Rules" will only drag you down... some people need them, you don't.
