1) I am sincerely grateful to Mark Chamberlain (marktc) for looking at this image and finding it suitable for a Guest Editor Award. Also I want to thank Michaela Solway, Ken (franken), Jeff Silvers (cats_123) and Simon Hunt for their UAs!

I must say that I owe much of the improvement I have experienced to looking at the wonderful pictures my fellow EPZers upload everyday.
Thanks much to all.

2) Thanks so much for your encouraging comments and votes on Cristofué and my self-portrait (that Source categorized as a natural abstract Grin).

She is having lunch, about to eat a sandwich. It was past noon.
So I don't know if he is looking at her or at her food! Wink

I like the humor behind this shot - caught in the act. I confess, I have done it before too, but that's different, that's decade ago Tongue

AH, Nezih! I found a button in my camera that says "High Contrast Monochrome".
These discoveries tend to happen to me when I read the manuals! SmileSmileWink

I let the camera do the best and concentrated on framing and catching the right POV.
Thanks for the comment dear friend.

This is a beautiful and compelling image, Marian. I suspect he is looking at her. I would be, speaking as a guy.

Why is she apparently surrounded by bags? Is she the bag-sentry?
I think he's just realized that he's very slowly sliding down the ramp, and he's trying to figure out the best way of saving face when hits the bottom.

There were other young girls in that group, not as pretty as the one in the picture. She was taking care of their backpacks while they were out buying lunch. I was hoping he wouldn't stand up from the ramp, it was his pose that caught my eye. I am shortsighted so I couldn't really see his expression, I keep getting surprises after downloading the pictures in my laptop. BlushBlush

Hi Marian, OK, take two. The main thing about this is the basic structure, a triangle, created by the girl and her things and the boy, this is a good start. The boys eyes are supposed to be on the book but he's having a sneaky look at the girl and this creates a link between them. The other link is the diagonal line from her head leading towards him, then there's the curved line that links her head to what I'll assume is the head of another girl at the top of the frame. By lines and looks you've joined up the various elements of the picture and this is why it works. The only thing I would have done would be to crop off some foreground to make her and her stuff form a solid base to the picture, the bonus is that this puts the boys head just about on the thirds both vertically and horizontally. Mono conversion eliminates color distraction which helps too. My best advice for this sort of picture is to "shoot from the hip" and capture the moment, once you've got it try and see if you can get closer or a better angle, maybe you will, maybe it'll be gone forever but that won't mater since you already got that first instinctive snap. Take some time to look at this picture and it will sink into your subconscious and you'll do this type of thing time and time again. That's it, Si.
