No Moira it's and old type lense if it correctly attached to the body the aperture locked at wide opening only so I loose it a bit so I can have option for aperture and if smaller aperture rotation use I'm affraid the lense can be fell off from the body anytime, but by loose it a bit it tight enough attached to the camera body and more focus, and in framing yes still bit confused what should be in frame and what should not, Thank you very much

Quote:A lovely subject to photograph. I have cropped to give the subject more impact and just tweaked the shadows and highlights a little.

Ah yes as Moira said about left and space it gives more better impact and I can see more detail on shadow area and also on highlight area, thank you very much

I don't know hehehe, I'm just surprise with Nikon kit lense, Actually I'm considering to do camera upgrade to Sony full frame camera, really impressed by it's micro detail, but second tough seeing this Nikon also still impressive on detail even at some zoom area, aspect perhaps 50 : 50 ratio landscape ?, but it seem that ground level shooting capture more sand that the sea or sky

Quote:A manual focus lens without electonics, I think?

I'd suggest brightening the eyes a bit, either by lifting midtones in Levels, or by dodging. I'll try a mod...

I think you've used a very wide aperture, which can be a reason to use an older, fixed focal length lens. However, the focus seems to be slighly closer than the eyes, which are the heart of a portrait. Precise focussing at wide apertures needs a lot of practice, and you should always take several shots, most of which won't be quite right.

A final thought - although the wide aperture has thrown the background well out of focus, it's not removed the detail. Light and dark bars tend to be messy and distracting - if you can find a plain, dark background, do so.

Thank you very much I really like the mod, Dodge on Photoshop to bright only the eyes right ?, And level is such that curve thing on Photoshop ?, Ok I really like the idea about the plain background and yes it is manual lense without electronic on D5200 can only use the wide opening, I noticed that even when I rotate the aperture ring it not changing, seem locked at wide open and also light meter didn't work, so yes I took several shot to get correct light and also focus as you mentioned, on D7100, all function working perfectly, I mean aperture ring and metering so only focusing to framing and focus, once again, but yes I love that wide open lense deliver awesome blurry not focusing area

I would rotate it counter clockwise a little to get those radio towers vertical.

In the mod this is done, and Ive cropped space at the top, and used a warmer tone.

    Well done.
Thank you very much for the mod, more detail coming, okay let me try to do that counter clockwise, but for other modification I don't think I know how to do that, hehehe
