This little wader displayed vigorously alongside a lake but appeared to have a nest high up in nearby tree. Anyone know the which sandpiper it might be?

Nicely captured.

(I'm not an ID expert, but ... Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos). The 'white gap' between the wing and the breast is a clue to which Sandpiper.)
