Storm Front

By quasimodo
Waves break over the Tynemouth breakwater and cover the lover path in water. The breakwater itself was closed only half an hour before this image was taken, as the waves had even then started to break over the top of the barrier and deluge people walking along the top. There are a few more shots of this to come yet...

Excellent work. Dark and moody yet enough light on the lighthouse and to get the reflection. I look forward to the ones to come...

Nice tones.
Love the way the path leads your eye towards the lighthouse.

Nice image and good composition. Looks really wild. I hope you kept the salt water spray of the camera.

Saw this amd instantly recognised Tynemouth.

Where was the light source for this - as I would not suspect so much shaddow on the left.

I too remember the crain that uesd to run along the top - and the tunnel along the inside, which IIRC is all gated off now.

This was taken at about 4pm in the afternoon about 2 months back. The light source was the sun but it was peeking through storm clouds at the time hence the bright patch of light on the lighthouse and the relative darkness of the rest of the image.

Most of the pier is off limits to the public now - these lower paths are the private domain of the local fishing club - all the public now has access to is the upper path along the top of the pier.

Hoping to post a few more images over the next few days - I hope you like them!
