Quick Dinner Dash

By queso
OK, not a great photo I know but I was wet, the camera was wet, I was eating my lunch and had to run outside and snap this as the train was already on the way past..... but I do also love the photo.

I would really appreciate if anyone could suggest improvements to this....

Thank you for the help

I love steam. Why not try a crop from the left to take out the telegraph pole?

Alex, the photo is really poor quality. i literally ran to the balcony took a burst of about 7 then ran back again. i took no time over it cause i was wet and fed up. the more you crop and zoom in the worse it gets..... shameful i know.

Thank you so much for the suggestion though. I am going back on a dry day to try again so hopefully i'll get a few better ones then.

I got two photos over the whole day, i will put the other one up later. Thats how bad the day went lol

Thanks for the vote

A nice shot. Alex is right to suggest a crop. I would have taken the sky out and cropped to the trees. The telegraph pole gives the image a movement. You did well to get an image like this if you ran and fired off seven. I am usually in place with a tripod for ages.

so was everyone else but the rain (as well as a lot of things) puts me in a bad mood so i really couldn't be bothered to even stand there and wait for it to come.

I'll maybe crop it and put it as a mod, you can see the really bad quality then lol

Please refer to modified image. Modified as requested! I've carried out an initial crop to use the lead in along the track from bottom left to loco, and remove some of the bland sky. Levels adjusted to set black and white points in the image. Since you had captured some excellent texture in the trees behind the train, a few crops of these were used to mask the large expanse of steam on rhs. A couple of bits of dodge nad burn, to lower brightness along boiler top and cab, and reveal more of the wheel details, followed by selective sharpening and the jobs done. Hope it's not to severe for you. Regards

Haha! I love it, I have only seen it on the iPad but I will log on the laptop and have a proper look tomorrow. Thank you so much. I will have to learn how to edit photos I think.

Thanks again
