Beautiful light & mood in this excellent serene landscape capture. I would suggest to "tone down the highlights from the morning Sun"(maybe a touch too harsh). A curves adjustment would help. I am sure other EPZ members will have additional expert advise. Otherwise, nice work with the D90. Regards...LEx
Thanks LEx. I tried a selective adjustment as an overall layer adjustment lost the lowlights and shadows. It still made the image look unatural so I left as nature intended.

Thanks for the mod suggestion Frank, I had this printed on German Etch Paper at 16x22 inches and the printed version has a touch more contrast and the foreground is lighter in parts than can be seen here (same image no adjustments), which really brings out the cobwebs and dapples of sun on the greenery.

I tried to add some lightness and colour into the photo. The sky was made bluer and the grass and sunlight through the trees a little fresher, or that was the thinking. I was going for the dewy freshness look
I filled in the sun highlight with a suitable colour then gradually painted some of it out so it wasn't such a light hole in the image.
Probably gone OTT with the sharpening, should have backed that off a little.

I mainly use curves and select each RGB channel to modify the colours and tones. I use a layer mask to paint out what I don't need adjusted in the image.
To lighten, I select a curves adjustment layer and set to screen blending mode. Again, I paint out any effect I don't want and use the opacity slider to back off the intensity of the effect until it looks more natural.
Use the colour picker to pick a colour close to the bright sun and fill a new layer with it. Use a layer mask to paint out most of the effect so it becomes a subtle transition. I still have a white centre to it but it's at a very reduced size compared with the starting image.
I usually sharpen using the High Pass filter or Smart Sharpen.

Thanks for that Alan. I used curves to bring up some of the image but didn't go into each channel. I am very happy with the image I've got as it is just the way I remember the morning as the mist muted a lot of the colours, but I like your mod a great deal.
