To be fair it was a sort of carousel, on the pier at Clacton yesterday, that I took this picture with my 70 - 300 mm plus 2x converter set up.
I am pretty happy with the sharpness considering it was at the 600 mm end though I had set an ISO of 500 to offset the loss of two stops. The monopod bracket was put to use for this test shot as the real reason for being there was the Air Show.
My 70 challenge was to get a sharp shot of a fast moving aircraft using manual focus and zoom. First up The Red Arrows, well they are certainly fast if not very red for this season. With the sun overhead and a hazy blue sky I struggled to get a shot at first. Then disaster as the "Card Full" sign appeared and the shutter stopped working. A quick change to my spare card and I was of again with more determination. Did I get the shot, well sort of, judge for yourself.
I like this one better for the smoke trail.
Personally I don't think I did achieve what I set out to, but with the aircraft flying further out to sea these days and with harsh lighting I did what I could.
