DAY 181, STRIKING GOLD

30 Jun 2013 11:26PM   Views : 456 Unique : 244

I can remember a day 17 years ago when on my 50th birthday I was given some gold. We threw a party in my back garden and I hired a large barbecue and I filled it with charcoal. When lit it smouldered for a while and then started to glow red, ten minutes later and it was like staring into a volcano. The food cooked in minutes and we had to dash forward turn the sausages and leap back before we too started to cook. A nearby fence panel started to steam in the heat and it took hours for the barbecue to burn itself out and cool down.

Next morning there was a barbecue sized scorch mark on the lawn that my ex wife was really pee'd off about.

But the thing I still treasure is the gold,

Rose 'Golden Celebration'

I still have it in the pot that my brother gave me with the rose. It is his wife's birthday on Saturday, perhaps I should frame this shot to give to her.
