Went out this afternoon to get a shot or two for the Black and White Challenge group and had stroll round my local woodland. It is a very small piece of Epping forest and gets very few visitors and it was no surprise when I flushed out a Fallow deer doe and her young hind. I was mooching about looking for photos when there was a sudden noise to my left and both animals sprang out of a large clump of bracken and made off at speed.

This area of woodland contains a lot of fallen and rotting trees and so I found some other animals here, or at least strange bony remnants of them.

Taking the plunge

At the recent Clacton Air show the Army parachute display team dropped in. Conditions were bright with a cloudless sky but hazy which made photography tricky as regards focus and exposure. Add to that the distance between the display and myself meant...

One down, two to go?

Went for a walk with the camera today in an Essex countryside village whilst my lovely lady was singing at a birthday party in the village hall. I did not know what the place was like except that there was a pub so all looked fine. My first impress...

Lucky you seeing deer; I've never seen any in Epping Forest although I'm up there regularly. But I know what you mean about interesting logs and fallen trees. They make great photographic subjects. Smile
