On the eve

No challenging photo's today except to try out my new 2x converter with a couple of 70 - 300 lenses. In neither case does the auto focus work correctly and so it is going to have to be manual for my big day out. I am off to the Clacton Air Show on the Essex coast so if you are going too give me a wave. How will you recognise me, well I shall be sporting the latest piece of photographic equipment that is yet to come to market. On the top of my monopod you may be privileged to see a red bracket somewhat resembling Churchill's V sign. The purpose of this revolutionary device is not to support a cigar but my chosen 70 - 300. An extra wrist strap allows me to control the monopod whilst my hands are left free to control the camera and lens. Ingenious or mad cap it actually works, for proof see my latest portfolio entry of the Eagle Owl. Ok it was not moving but the focal length was 600mm.

My challenge tomorrow is to get it to work just as well with moving aircraft. Will this madcap pioneer succeed or will he have a double egg all over his face. Be here tomorrow evening for the next exciting installment of Rambler's Blog

Oh and Goodnight to you all.

Art and Architecture

The Black and White Challenge this week was to come up with something either Art Nouveau or Art Deco. My mind immediately went to a book about Charles Rennie Mackintosh that I had in my Ikea bookcase, however I discovered it was no longer there and I...

Taking the plunge

At the recent Clacton Air show the Army parachute display team dropped in. Conditions were bright with a cloudless sky but hazy which made photography tricky as regards focus and exposure. Add to that the distance between the display and myself meant...

One down, two to go?

Went for a walk with the camera today in an Essex countryside village whilst my lovely lady was singing at a birthday party in the village hall. I did not know what the place was like except that there was a pub so all looked fine. My first impress...

I woke late this morning with a headache and feeling very jaded. A cup of tea and breakfast was taken whilst i studied the news and emails etc on my laptop. A neighbour rang my doorbell to get help with his mobile phone and Ioaned him mine to make a...
