Moathouse

By Rapido57
This was taken the day after the recent snow fall, the sun was out and just about to go down; this made such a difference to the previous day when the light was flat and everything appeared to be black/white. Glad I went back a second time. This is my first post, of many more I hope!

Maybe just a tad over romantic but it is a first class composition (so now you have next years Christmas cards sorted then!).

For me the key elements at work here are that wonderful low light, the detail on the half timbered building (adding a timeless quality) and the church spire peeking through the trees. Nicely worked.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments all, very encouraging. Know what you mean Robert about 'being a tad over romantic', did think it was a little Chocolate Box Coverish, but the scene just needed to be taken; glad you like the composition, most of it was deliberate.

Thanks again,

Paul

Very nice first up-load, Paul. Lovely scene and the sunlight catching on roof and trees adding that extra sparkle.
Ronnie.
(PS. I see nothing wrong with 'Chocolate Box' personally - but that's just me, of course. R.)

how can a shot be over romantic? it is what it is !

a nice comp, lights good especially on the cottage itself

my only crit, maybe I would have got in a little closer, that cottage looks so cute ...needs to be seen closer and that tree on the left bugs me just a teeny bit

great upload, looking forward to seeing more Smile

Thanks for the comments Diana. I'm going to up load another photo of the cottage from a bit closer in, I have to ps out a rather unsightly tv aerial first. Understand what you say about the tree, I tried to move round a bit to loose it but I lost the angle on the house. I could always take my chainsaw with me next time ; )
Thanks again,

Paul

I echo Helen's comment. Wonderful light and exposure - love the warm light. Gorgeous snow scene.
