That is STUNNING! Like I have said before, macro isn't usually my thing and I am not usually that bothered by wildlife images on the whole... not because I don't appreciate them, mainly because my interests lie elsewhere with photography, so I don't feel I am qualified to comment......but with your stuff, I just can't help it as you always seem to take macro stuff to a different level and see something else entirely different. This is no exception and must have taken a huge amount of time and patience to get the right image and boy, was it worth it! What a stunning bit of photography! Absolutely bang on the button....beautiful, detailed, superbly timed and highly skilled....just bloody fantastic!

Quote:this is a fake just typed in hoverfly and yours must be dead on a piece of glass does not match the other pics at all nice try
Haha!

No, this really is not a fake and I really did move the backdrop and minireflecters to the yard. Let's just say it's a freak of nature and some good fortune... Insects loose their iridescence when dead and they don't tend to move

PS: Many thanx for your comments and votes, photobuds.

no vote im afraid cant see how you manage to freeze the wings of a hover fly and catch a twitch of a leg inflight . look at the photo chase of two butterflies he hasnt frose their wings at 2500/sec also the legs are not tucked up the wings inthe wrong postion also the right wing is damaged the only time insects twitch is when they are stunned.unless you can prove otherwise no vote.

That's fine, Shaun, I can live without the vote. I'm just having a bit of fun... You'd have to be closer to 1/4000th to start to freeze it's wings. The fact is, I didn't stun it or interfear with nature. I just prefer to leave some of my techniques to the lateral thinking of others. It was literally a freak of nature...
