Portrait 01

By RAPjones
Well, Iím having a crack at all types of photography at the moment as you can see from my EPZ folio. This is the first straight studio portrait Iíve posted and any critique is welcome. Iím still very new to working with Ďmodelsí and Iím learning loads each time. You may notice the false bokeh on the back of the ladyís hair and thatís because the hair wasnít good enough for this kind of shot, so I had to cheat out the scraggley bits with a blurÖ So thereís something to be said for having a hair/make-up artist to hand.

I think it works very well and is a strong image. Good light, good mood created by your model and well processed. It's impressive!

Many thanks JB. It was difficult to get an expression that I liked... but I really enjoyed doing the post production, mainly colouring, on this one Smile ...and fortunately, she was pleased too!

There is something very dark and scary about this shot, I'm not sure what it is, but it is really menacing. I looked at it yesterday and have come back today for another look to see if I can say what it is, but I can't put my finger on it.
It might be something to do with the pale eyes when everything else is fairly dark, but again there is something else.

Anyway, to get to the point, I like it, it's made me think about the woman in the shot and made me come back to the image, so in my book, that makes it work.

Thanks guys. I didn't want straight glamour results at all and I think she (a close friend) did... I think she looks quite intense and hard but still very attractive. I asked her what she thought, her answer being:'you've made me look very harsh' and I said that's just what you can look like, then I referenced Charlotte Rampling which pleased her... women! Wink
