Nice, I like how it jumps out from the black but the background still seeps up through the darkness.

That is a very interesting novel situation! I love the sense of drama in the photo and how the book glows dark in the light. I wonder if it might be improved by editing out the the yellow person or whatever it is beneath the book to keep the attention on the three people. Lightening the shot slightly and a bit of a closer crop might help too. Anyway nice shot!

Is this a snake-headed frattilatry? I remember one of my friends getting really excited about finding one of these once. Anyway, nice picture, i like the flow and shapes of the grass stalks against the blue, the stalks have a nice compostion just by themseleves. Seeming you've asked for critism though I'd say that the the colour of the flower heads themselves seems a little too unntaural for my tastes in this sort of picture where the beauty of the plant can speak for itself, and the light on the bottom the flower is a little to bright (the light shining through the top one is lovely though). Anyway, nice capture.

This is a lovely flower picture, I like the gorgeous swirling shapes and how it tappers away into a point. To improve it though I would suggest rethinking it's placement in the picture, though the minialism is nice with so much black you need to think carefully about how it reads as a whole image as initailly I found my concentration drawn away from the flower by the surrounding darkness.
I know this sounds very odd but I think it would start to read better if you simply mirrored it - people naturally give the left side of space more visual attention and having it on the left some how makes it easy on the eye that way.

Personally I like this effect very much, it reminds me of spring rain for some reason. I love the bright greens and light through the trees espically.
I like it the way it is but it might be interesting to see if a more gradual and constrasting transition between the detail of the foreground and the almost painterly like aspect of the background would improve it.

This photo really jumped out at me from the critque page. It's got a great compostion, sense of depth and the lighting on the wings is beautiful. To improve it though I think I'd suggest making it more minimalistic. To that end I think it'd be improved by cloning out the foilage on the left and maybe the person and bike as well. I think that way it might read a little smoother and the simple and bold focus of the picture would stand out more.
