  • Posted on: Nikon Z 50 Camera Kit Competition Winner

That is a disgusting thing to do. Why enter a competition if you don't want the prize. Personally I would have kicked him out of the site entirely. So many others, as you said, would have loved to win that camera but all he has done is stick two fingers ujp at everyone, staff and other members .
I just can't find words to express how everyhone must feel about it . Not only trying to resell it but worse one the site he won it from, talk about being brain dead this beats all. Thank goodness there are still a lot of decent photographers on here and not like this guy.

The Nikon D300 in video mode the mike picks up focus change clicks. Hope they have fixed this in the new D5. Hope this time they have separated the intrnl mike from the extrnl one . That way the internal mike would be off and the extrnl one working in place of. It is a huge error on Nikons part if they have failed to address this problem

Why on earth didn't Nikon use the EN-EL4A battery? its beyond me. Its good enough for the D300 and the D700. Just another ploy by a large manufacturer to sell more of their products without any thought for their customers. I did read somewhere about new regulations which is a complete load of rubbish. If the existing batteries were good enough and met regulations then why mess about changing them

Can't see the point of producing a new one the SB900 is easy enough to use. Surely it would be cheaper to release an upgrade to the SB900 menu instead? I suspect Nikon have only revamped the SB900 to the SB910 to be able to up the price by 100 or so and maybe make more sales. I am suprised that Nikon havn't researched into producing a continuous light SB unit instead to fit on top of their cameras, especially they have in their camera lineup dual mode cameras ie stills and video.

Quote:I returned mine after finding there is no way to ensure the camera sensor plane is parallel to the target face. A must IMO for accurate calibration.

What I did was to measure the height to the centre of the lens and used that measurement to get the correct height on the target, thats on level ground obviously. Regarding the target being slightly facing left/right to the camera lens shouldn't make any difference to reading the scale as both extremes would be equal distance from the camera lens.

  • Posted on: Spyder LensCal Review

Having purchased one from the first, what the article doesn't say is about the distance between the camera and the Spyder Lens Cal. I first tried with both too close and it threw the calibration right out the window then tried with both too far away and had a job reading the scale. It is a case of trial and error to set both the camera and target at the correct distance and this depends on the lens being calibrated.
Gary Wolstenholme should have posted a rough guide for each lens in relation to distance between both on top, of his otherwise excellent review
