I have just read your review/opinion on the Olympus OM D EM 5 Mark lll and in the verdict section, I find the term "plastic construction" rather unfortunate, when in fact the body shell is constructed from polycarbonate rather than metal. As an engineer working with composites, carbon fibre, resins, polycarbonates etc, I can assure you that these materials like for like in applications can be as strong as metals, if not stronger in some cases. The use of the term "plastic construction" in your article implies cheap, somehow nasty, inferior and there are differing levels of plastics and strengths. Polycarbonates are in particular much stronger than "plastics".

I understand if you pre-order, you will have the camera in December 2016, 1849 body only.
What I do not understand is, this digital, electronic camera, why does it have a mechanical shutter as well as an electronic shutter?

A good in-depth review. Thank you.
However, I would not purchase this camera because there is no built in view finder.
I find on bright sunny days it is almost impossible to compose a photograph under such conditions.

A thorough review of this latest offering from Rich/Pentax - Thank you.
However, at this price, I would not consider any compact camera that does not incorporate a viewfinder within the body. At 220.00 the optical viewfinder accessory makes this an expensive compact camera.

Like johnlw I use a Cannon G9 and was impressed when I first saw the G1X, then the priced was announced and like Ricky 37 I feel it is over priced and with an inferior zoom to the G12, a back-ward step I feel.

What a strange comment to describe a lens, "deemed easy to use", like franken, all my lenses are easy to use.

Looks like a well specked camera, which I would be interested in, if only it had a view finder. I find I cannot cope with a screen for composition in brilliant sun-light.

I do not know what Pentax logic is, small sensor, two of the lenses have Plastic, yes Plastic lens mounts. I shall not be purchasing this poor effort of a new camera system.

An excellent and thorough review of this lens which I have.
I concur with the reviews findings, "good performance at a very reasonable price"

A very interesting and thorough review. I am surprised it reached a score of four and a half.
On the basis of the review, I will not be purchasing this lens.

Having tried this lens myself, I endorse Gary's findings, which I could have not put any better myself.
If one is purchasing a fast lens for their particular needs, then ones needs quality at the fast aperture, I found this lens did not provide the quality, as Gary also found.
The lens therefore, in my opinion is overpriced and as Gary as pointed out there are other manufactures lenses available.
I would not purchase this lens myself. - A good report though.
