I took this a while ago. Haven't been able to get out so I took a few minutes between shifts to enhance and crop this one. Not my favorite but interesting none the less.
CC always welcome. Mod 1 is SOOC

These are two different images. the main image is completely out of focus on the rope and sharp on the wood, whereas mod 1 is sharp on the rope and the wood in the background is out of focus as I'd expect.

It's an interesting detail shot and whetehr you love or hate colour popping I've done a mod!
I've also done a mono conversion for comparison though I don't think it works as well.

Yep, as Keith mentioned, different shots.

The SOOC is quite decent, uploaded a mod also.

There is the focus issue again. The camera has focused on the backgrond with the subject very blurred. The rope had to be very sharp. That isstrange and suggests to e this is a large crop where there was much more background.

The rope will not respond to sharpening.

Mod 1 is actually far better than the posted version, as the focus is where all of us wanted it... Paul said it most clearly.

In the main post, I think I see some of the quality issues we dealt with a while ago. The focus is a conundrum: I'm not sure how it could have gone so wrong with this subject on one shot, and been right on the other...

I am a bit late here. The main upload and the first Modification certainly don't look like the same file, in the first the focus looks to be on the background (though that is somewhat oversharpened for my taste), in the modification the focus is where I want it, on the foreground. Looking at the Exif, it is almost identical for the two shots but the focal length is very slightly different.

But more importantly:

I am interested to know what areas you worked to enhance, and what your overall aims are when you process a picture. I think you need clear objectives, I'm not seeing that here.

Hi Moira and all;
I enhanced the colour, added saturation, sharpened a bit and cropped. I also deepened. I wanted to bring the colours out and try to make a dull picture more interesting. I am wondering if the "auto" focus is causing me issues, I have it set on continuous, I think I will set it for the centre again, I find pushing the button 1/2 way and hoping it is focused to be annoying.

dark_lord-
I have been meaning to ask, how do you do the colour popping?
