Whitby Abbey

By RichardN00
Whitby Abbey shot from the graveyard of St Mary's Church.

Converted to sepia to try and make the most of the slightly spooky atmosphere and the storm clouds.

You can easily see how Bram Stoker got the idea for Dracula.

I came back to Whitby a couple of days later in bright sunshine and the feeling was totally different.

I like ruins/graveyard/church type shots etc. Think you've captured the mood well here.

of the many pictures i have seen of the abbey, this one comes out near the top. the gravestones frame the abbey at the bottom and the dramatic sky frames it at the top to make a good composition. i like the toning, would also like to see a black and white version. alan h.
