Wink I'm downright honored to be part of this chance to display my photography. It makes it more fun! But I despise competition so I'm just going to show what I think is my best and lie low, like Brer Rabbit. You young foxes can compete; not me.

About Me

Tongue I was born in Munich, Germany of American parents on November 29, 1947. That makes me a relic of the Twentieth Century. But if I look back and try to ignore the humiliations, I haven't done so badly. Served on the USS RALEIGH during the Vietnam era. I still love that ship, though she's at the bottom of the sea. Earned a double major Bachelor's Degree in Writing and World Literature in 1972 at Columbus State University in Georgia. Earned my Master's in American Literature in 1985. Sold about a dozen articles with my own photographic illustrations to national magazines in the 1980's ("Sports Afield"; "Defenders of Wildlife"; "Maryland Conservationist"; "Annapolis"; "Fate"; "UMWA Magazine"; "American Sheriff"; "Writer's Digest"; "(Norman) Mailer Review"; etcetra etcetra blah and blah . . . .. Earned my beef and board by writinjg for newspapers most of my life.
Wrote and sold my first book in 1997 to Overmountain Books - "Appalachian Genesis"; wrote and sold my second to Whitmore Books -- "The Hogs of Cold Harbor" (which I believe ranks as a history cult book now, especially among neo-Confedederates down South. It's sold slowly but regularly since it came out in the year 2005.)
I do love cameras, photographic technology; art photography and especially Nature photography -- since I got my first "serious" camera in 1964 - a German made "EXA 1a" with an f2.9 50mm Meritar and waist level finder. I STILL have it, a'working fine! Now I use digital and film Canons with "L" lenses.
