Ben Lomond

By TrevBatWCC
Happy New Year all.

Taken on New Yearís Day on my few days break to Scotland, looking towards Ben Lomond, which rises 3,194 feet above sea level.

It was just a minutes walk from my hotel in Tarbet down to the banks of Loch Lomond for this splendid view. Though a cold and frosty day, it was quite pleasant and sunny, but I had to wait until almost midday for the sun to come around. Most of the frost had by now melted, but there was still quite a lot just below the summit that the sun hadnít reached.

Lots of catching up to do now on what Iíve missed whilst away...

Pleased to see you got some decent weather while up here, Trev. Hope you had a good time. And a happy New Year to you too.

the little tree gives an idea of the scale.lesley
Not only have you captured the first munro I did (myself by the way) but you have also captured some of the beautiful forground in which Ben Lomond is set around Loch Lomond.
For that reason this image, in my opinion is fantastic and is one of the few captures of Ben Lomond that I have to say sell Scotland to poeple who have never been here.

By the looks of the position of the sun, If you had been 15 minutes later you would have missed the red sunset on the summit.

Fantastic image showing Ben Lomond in its real beauty.
