Padley Fern

By richardwheel
Just spent an enjoyable weekend with team WASP and Mr leVers. The sunset and sunrise didn't play ball so after a hefty breakfast and a sleep for the other 2 members of the team, we decided Padley was our last hope of getting something, especially after all the rain we've been having.

The water was a lovely peaty colour and after filling my boots with it (literally) I ended up on the wrong side of the river. I decided to have an adventure round before trying to find my way back over to the other side...

The little fern stuck to the rock was crying out to be shot,

edit: and a big thankyou to fran for moving her tripod out of my way [but not for laughing at me and telling me I looked like I'd pee'd myself]

See what you think...

Beautiful detailed shot of this woodland gorge scene with really nice colours and details throughout, lovely smooth water and fabulous details on the rocks - large is well worth viewing as the details pop out at you even more - really lovely composition too, definately worth my user award I really like this one.

Looks well mate, one of the better Padley shots I've seen.

Great weekend mate, shame the light didn't play ball ... maybe next time though? Wink

That's really, really good - and even better seen large! The fern on the boulder a perfect anchor amid the torrential flows... Carol

Beautiful image, Richard. Glad to see there are others out there risking life, limb and dry trousers to bring us these shots. Keep up the good work. Smile

So you did go back there then!! Pity the light didn't play ball first thing. I didn't really get anything else after you left!!
This is nice though, spot on shutter speed and perfectly placed fern. Wet trousers and feet, no surprise there then!

I was going to ask if you were still using the same not waterproof shoes you trekked across Ranoch moor in, guess it is time to put waders on the shopping list.

It was a shame wasn't it martin, but never mind, we can't have fab conditions every time...

Funnily enough Neil, we were discussing waders before I ended up in the drink!

Smashing image Richard - you've really captured the flow of the water over the rocks. Wet feet and soggy knees are occupational hazards... I often arrive home looking like I've been fighting with bears!

Really special, Rich. Surprised it hasn't an HC at the least - the foreground on its own deserves it.
