Roach End

By richardwheel
I joined up with the frans birthday bash party for the afternoon and sunset so off we went on simon palmers magical mystery tour round derbyshire, roads I didn't even knew existed.

The last stop was Roach End farm and we ended up with tripods circling the farm that we discovered.

great afternoon guys, cheers Smile

Know what you mean, Richard!

Simon Palmer's Lonely Hearts Club Band has a better ring to it! Wink

Might have only got the camera out for a wee while, Rich, but you certainly made the most of it! Grin

Erm Wow! This is great Richard, pure class from the L Glass. I thought you were quiet over there on the other side of the wall all on your own, I can see why now. An absolute stonker this is.

That is some shot Richard. Normally I would be very, very impressed, but at the moment I am only very impressed as I am too busy trying to kick myself to spend any more time on being impressed.

Had I been on this side of the wall I still would not have managed this, but cannot help wishing I had at least tried.

Not trying to take anything away from this though as it as a stunning shot and a very well deserved EC.

crikey, cheers pete.

lol Neil, TBH I was quite uninspired at the time and only got the camera out when I saw the sun/clouds combo. This was the only shot I took that I was happy with if that makes you feel got a cracking morning down curbar/padley!

Ah yes Simon, but who discovered it? Wink

Next time I'll give you a shout Paul, you live out in the peaks now don't you?

I'm not sure if it's my monitor, but there seems to be a bit of a brightness behind the tree. Nonetheless, it's a beautifully composed and lit image, and worthy indeed of its EC. Many congrats, Richard.

A lot of shots came from this shoot and all feature the wonderfully dramatic and colourful sky. I like this for the balance of elements from the foreground reeds to the derelict barn and then sun. I also feel you've done a grand job of retaining detail in the sun which is difficult when shooting direct into it. The barn is well sized in the overall mix so it's neither lost in the landscape nor too dominant.

cracking capture for the reasons given above.... I can see what Ian means with the light/sharpening, what method did you use for this ?
richardwheel 12 217 2 England
2 Oct 2008 10:13AM
I used Keiths 50 50 10 sharpen on the photo to bring out the definition, but it's put too much contrast between the tree and sky Sad

Anyway, removed that layer and it looks fine for print now Smile

cheers guys

ah ha yes know it well...sharpening will be the death of me... I tend to use a 3 stage method as I found the 50 50 10 too punchy, Keith always seems to get it spot on, he must of missed telling me the secret on my last workshop with him .... Wink
