posted an alternative flower under modifications. I was very close to the flower. I will try again later in the week. Hopefully the weather will be kind to me. I am still learning to use this camera.

    Thank you for your feedback

thank you the support. I used some -ve EV as the previous shot I took resulted in the black being grey. I think the next step is use the Manual option. I also think I should have taken an exposure reading somewhere other than on the butterflies wings - Yes?

I did not keep an eye on my shutter speed. I really must learn to keep an eye on things.

The next oppotunity I get I will post my results. Hopefully I have improved.

    Dear Willie

thank you for the comments. I must stand in the corner, because I was aware of the shutter speed recommendation I forgot to check or did not want to push the ISO up further due to noise concerns.

I have another trip out planned soon. I will try to apply your suggestions and post the results.

    Regards

Thank you for all the comments. I will try to bear these in mind when I next get opportunity. This shot is the best of the night. Timing was everything. I have plenty of pre and post peak burst shots.

    Thanks again

thank you for the comments. Your modified version is a significant improvement on mine. I obviously lack confidence in post processing! In answer to the exif data it is as follows :-
f/11, 1/500 sec, a focal length of 17 mm, ISO 800, shot in Aperture mode, metering was evaluative and I used Shade for the WB.

My previous submissions have been straight from the jpeg and exif data was automatically completed. I know for next time.
