thankyou for not reading my comments or indeed the exif data... I was playing with depth of field with a 70-300mm Lens on a Nikon D5000 in very overcast/rainy weather... Aperture was at minimum for this reason?!? As for composition, it is not in question with this image... I never, ever use automatic

I was a little annoyed with the 'compact camera on auto comment' seeing how I have been at this for a number of years...

i get the point you are trying to make rick i can see it's not the image itself but the dof you are trying to get across and with that it is a good play with dof.

The rock in the top of the photo is a bit distracting
