Unknown Boy Jumping (Maldives)

By rlack
This was a charming boy, the son of the bar owner on the tiny maldivian island where we honeymooned. So nice to be able to semi-candidly take shots of him without being accused of being a paedophile!

This is a lovely portrait of childhood fun. Last month's PP had a good article about making depth of field shallower digitally (article with the ice hockey player pic), and I wonder if it would be worth blurring the background more to make him stand out more.

I wonder if a tighter crop would help as he seems to small in the shot. still include some background to set the scene and also crop out what looks like a crane.

Hi Richard

I like the fact you left somewhere for the boy to jump into - thought the composition was spot on. The bridge/platform is slightly burn't out so it loses a little detail in the wood - but a very minor point. Excellent!
