Are software programs AI or just an update ?

Can a program be truly AI if it doesn't learn anymore than it's program ?

The term "AI" typically refers to computer systems or programs that can learn, adapt, and exhibit intelligent behavior. Learning is a fundamental aspect of AI, as it enables systems to improve their performance over time and handle new situations or data.

If a program does not have the ability to learn beyond its initial programming, it would not be considered a form of true AI. AI systems typically incorporate machine learning techniques, such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, or reinforcement learning, to acquire knowledge, make predictions, or solve problems based on data and experiences.

However, it's important to note that AI exists on a spectrum, and not all AI systems need to continually learn or adapt. Some AI applications are designed to perform specific tasks based on a predefined set of rules or algorithms, without the need for ongoing learning. These systems are often referred to as "narrow AI" or "weak AI" since they are focused on specific domains and lack the ability to generalize or learn beyond their initial programming.

To summarize, while a program may possess certain intelligent functionalities or exhibit automated behavior, it would not be considered truly AI if it does not have the capacity to learn or adapt beyond its initial programming. Learning and adaptation are core components of AI systems that enable them to process data, acquire knowledge, and make informed decisions.

So are most software programs just updates ???
