Great stuff Robin. What a choice ! V3 is rather unusual as a location but works very well.

V1 for me is outstanding.
If I have to make a comment, I'd take the picture from a slightly different angle in order to have the central track right in the middle and as vertical as possible.
great shot anyway, I like the post processing too

V1 is superb for me. The HDR effect shows the rails to perfection. V3 is an unusal POV but I think works very well. V2 & V4 unfortunately loose it due to V1 & V3 for me.

V1: Imaginative and unique. A strong and stimulating distillation of the primary elements of the railway environment.

V2: The coloured pop-out is attracting but distracting. The "capture" inherently has merit as an incidental, glimpsed moment of random happening with a strong sense of place.

Sentimentality in V4, but with beautiful colouring and a satisfying, sympathetic arrangement of the leaning figure, her pony tail and the soft dynamic background.

V3: Contrasts. Superb handling of light, shade, shape and directional thrusts. Heavy, static massing and fluid action. Beautifully delicate steam trail. Tangible "echoes".

Technical accomplishment and legitimate stretching of boundaries.

I do like the 3rd version. The front engine in perticular silhoetted in the sky.
