It brings back a few memories from yesteryear! A fine and grotty abstract.

I can just 'feel' the oily surface!!!

Bold and bright, works a treat, I like the cobweb brings it all together I think...

Well oiled just how a man should be on a Friday night. Good thinking to leave it is-situ rather than turning it full frontal.

Ah Ha! It's this one! Bill: please note if my comments seem a bit weird you need to go back to the "Orange String" upload and then work forwards to this upload. Fabulous really atmospheric shot, love the gentle colours, the shadows and highlights and your use of dof. But mainly it's not about any technical appreciation, rather the fact that this shot generate an emotional response from me, which means this image definitely gets my UA.
kind regards,

The tin on the right is the star but needs the others to work, a real case of all its parts combining to make the image. - gary

Excellent Bill.

Reminds me of the time I was a volunteer at the then Barry steam railway. You only had to step inside the door of the engine shed for a few moments and the smell of oil/ parrafin lingered with you all day! Smile

Used to love the smell of that stuff. Fortunately, I was too young at the time to appreciate the demon drink, else I might have tried it. Wink The faint, slender trace of arachnid activity just puts the topping on the cake.

Brings back memories of when I got married Bill.
We rented a little room and kitchen in Leith, and our only heating was a paraffin heater.
I can still smell it today.
My other memory was the ONE POUND rent a week we paid.
The rent man came to collect it every Friday night, and some nights we had all the lights out and pretended we were not in !!
Super grot shot.

I really like this especially 'that can'. I'm not sure whether you've selectively coloured this or not, but I like it. An image packed full of grot but with a super composition!

Memories of a child time ad war between the above mentioned paraffin and a certain Esso Blue.

Excellent DOF Bill. I like the web that is catching the light coming in through a window (I'm guessing).
It has the feel of one of those fantastic workshops, barns, shed etc that you see in films where they have been abandoned for years and forgot about. There's usually something about to make you jump, it gets you thinking.

I love these oilcan shots of yours Smile

And I can see why you didn't monofy this 'cos that orange (looks orange on my PC's monitor) "tennis ball" (that's how it strikes me - go figure!) is just too standy-outy to be thrown into mono, isn't it??
