Orange and Blue

By woolybill1
There is a wonderful old Scottish fiddle tune called Orange and Blue, a Strathspey in style although it can be played as a Schottische or a Highland Fling. One of the ceilidh bands I used to play in tagged it on to the end of their final set - for the dance Drops of Brandy - and after a couple of times through someone would start singing and the instruments would drop out: even before the fiddle was invented the tune was an example of Gaelic Puirt beul or Mouth Music, now best known by its opening words "Brochan lom".

The words are really nonsense, but great fun: typical of a nursery rhyme, in fact. If you want to hear them you will have to follow this link and start the sound clip manually. It will also tell you what the song is about Smile

The photograph, from Dungeness, is of course Nothing to Do with the Case.

I love the textures in this as well as the colours. Plus a bit of education thrown in - it's a winner Smile

Close up detail and texture but the colour contrast is the star of the show. A well found image, Bill.
