Monks Bridge

By robs
Monk's Bridge on the River Calder in West Cumbria...This is reputably the oldest packhorse bridge in the county with some suggesting it is the original medieval bridge associated with the nearby Calder Abbey whilst others believe it is more recent dating from the 17th or 18th Century...I would like to think it is from the older date!..It was a wet day today with the rocks trecherous. I managed to scramble/slide down to a rocky outcrop above a deep pool, get the big Nikon onto the tripod and shoot a couple of frames in the rain. I am thinking a return trip sometime in less wet weather!
