The Night Watch

By robs
Taken last night - I have been meaning to get out and get a shot like this for the last two years! My intention was to take a shot of Loch Katrine as the sun set, but the midges were bouncing off the lens (you could actually see them in the viewfinder!) and remembered about this on the retreat! Comments and critacism welcome - it's the only way to improve!!!!

Thanks for the comments! Think it's the best one I have uploaded so far personally Smile Really pleased with it, especially as the evening was starting to look a little bit like a wash out!

Nice one. Great colours in the sky, and lots of interest in the silhouette

Great shot.
Very well taken, you have even managed to retain some detail and colour on the ground.

very nice. Love the colours. Might consider getting rid of the strap. Just in my humble opinion. click

Cheers John, I can kind of see what you mean, but as the strap is a piece of the art work itself I think it would be wrong to remove it (the figure is a large bronze statue of David Stirling, the founder of the SAS). Great portfolio by the way Wink

Came across this by accident and what an accident, this image is so powerful, and in my opinion should have got an EC Award, exceptional photography and such a pleasure to view.

Cheers Andy! I am still very chuffed with it myself - by far the best image I have managed with a digital camera, probably because I deliberatly pretended it was film (ie spent a long time composing the shot and waiting for just the right moment! Film costs so I tend to be more careful with it!)
