"The Beinns"

By RonnieAG
Beinn an Dothaidh (left) and Beinn Dorain (right) seen across the river Orchy in this winter setting in highland Argyll: the hollow between the two Beinns is a corrie, carved by ice action during the glacial age and it is named Coire an Dothaidh. It boasts some excellent climbing walls.

My thanks to all who commented on my Highland Panorama and with special thanks to **** {DicksPics}, Netta {netta 1234} and Graham {digital_boi} for their treasured User Awards.

Ronnie.

Know them well! Sat through a 30 min snowstorm on the top of Beinn an Dothaidh one midsummers day a few years back.
Excellent lighting there & I like the composition.
Shame about the pylons marching across the landscape. I suppose next year the mountain tops will be covered in windmills as well Sad.

one lucky house holder here for sure probably murder in the winter but a fine scene to looking out on again clarity is wonderful Ronnie the cosld has stripped the air of any moisture, the icy blue waters add a lot to the scene a very pleasing capture in all respects

Another strong composition, Ronnie. The diagonal of the rocks leads to the fallen tree trunk, the gap in the trees and up the hill to the coll. I might just have cloned out that blue square and light coloured shed dead centre which are a bit of a distraction.

Stunning image with so much included in one frame.
The house nestling under the mountain adds to the image's appeal.
Now I know what a Corrie is! Did you used to listen to the Corries?

Good composition, I like the inclusion of the building on the right which gives scale and extra interest, the snow capped mountains are not only pretty but almost abstract in appearance and the foreground balances the picture well - you have it all here RonnieSmile

It gives the impression of being a bleak place to be cut-off in the middle of a winter storm, Ronnie.
That glaciated valley is the result of forces beyond our comprehension.

The corrie is used to climb Bein Dorain, leads you right onto the back of the ridge apparently, Peter (trekpete) has used it a couple of times and the views from up there are something else.
