Classic. And beautifully composed. The use of portrait gives a sense of distance - she seems to be walking into the past.

The daily walk to the local shop for bread and milk that older people do to this day, it's almost a ritual. Love the regular patter of the flagstones and the monochrome film look of yesterday. Agfa was one of the great european chemical companies, they made great papers as well as film, I recall Brovira paper which had the most amazing soft tones and creamy finish which was wonderful to work with.

Love the lines of the flagstones to the distance, & the graininess the film & processing has produced. Excellent.

Ron, this is a beautiful piece of photojournalism. I have been sitting here looking at this and it fills me with emotion.

The softness of the image also appeals to me. There is often talk of things being too soft, but it suits here. A classic film exposure, and I do so miss the look of black and white film. Probably shows in some of my more recent uploads.

The composition is superb, the stooped over woman speaks to all of us I think, of age, and also here of loneliness.

I never noticed such lovely paving stones when we were in Venice, but the backstreets are so interesting. The figure is just right.

Well observed, the b/w version, as well as the deteriorated housefronts in addition with the grittiness of the image make a very fine image.
