Strand-on-the-Green school 1950

By RosaB
This is an old school photo of mine but with an interesting story behind it! I have a twin sister and one of us is seated in the 2nd row 4th from the left. However the other one must have been ill that day and my parents didn't buy the photo! Now over 50 yrs later this photo has been sent to us by a fellow pupil contacted through "Friends Reunited" We were so alike that we are not sure which one of us it was!

V2 is the original and I have done some work in PS to improve it. I cloned the creases and pencil marks out, used the spot healing brush on the dust spots, straightened it,cropped it and darkened it.

V3 I have put in for fun!! I have pasted and copied the original twin using selections and cloning! Perhaps in this day and age my parents would have been persuaded to buy the photo! LOL!

V4 Was another photo taken a year or 2 later you can see how alike we were! Can any eagle eyed person out there decide which twin matches up with V1 and help us to decide which one of us it is?I am the Twin on the left, 3rd in seated from the left

All comments and advice welcome! If anyone recognises themselves in the photo please let me know!

Great stuff, what a lovely story!

If I may say so the darkened version looks a tad too dark on my PC, some of the detail has been lost in the shadows, the original looks better. Just a thought.

Indeed a lovely story, Rosa. How's life a few miles up the coast? Haven't we had some nice sunny days recently.

Thanks for your comments and advice much appreciated!
I am never much good at judging black and white Brian I just let auto enhance sort it out in PS but agree that it is too dark now although on my pc the original is too light! Probably should be somewhere in between!
Yes Christmas day was lovely Lydia but today is a bit dull!

Plenty of PS practise here Rosa.
How many names do you remember? Even the magic of PS can't make the shy ones look up. It's a delightful memory of childhood days.
All the best for 2008, I hope it brings you good health.

Many thanks Sean,Joline and Penny! I can remember about half the names of the people in this photo, however V4 the one taken a year or two later I can remember nearly all of them! Amazing really when I can't remember the names of people I met a few weeks ago!! Smile

what a fantastic job you've made here, Rosalie!!! certainly time well spent - i'm so impressed! if i was to make a guess as to the twin ID, i'd say that the twin from V1 appears in V4 in the second row as 4th from the left Wink

I love the change as you click back and forth between 2 and 3 ! I must look out the pic of my village school a few years previous to this.
