A Felucca Yachtsman

By RosaB
This is the first photo I uploaded to Epz. I have learnt a lot in the couple of months that I have been a member with the excellent advice and encouragement that I have received!
I have digitally enhanced this Photo just with the software "Picture Project" that came with my Nikon camera.
The picture was taken late afternoon not long before sunset and I felt the original photo didn't capture that. I increased the colour, sharpened it and straightened the horizon line.
I would be grateful for any advice and comments.

This was taken on the Nile at Aswan on a felucca and shows a yachtsman relaxing for a moment as we gently drifted along the Nile. It was Magic!

Still love the buildings in the background carved in to the rock not the first thing you notice from a quick look saturation and sharpening has worked well. But now the blue rope on the L/H side looks slightly out of place compared to the natural colours of the other ropes.

I think you have improved it, especially the warmth. I like his relaxed attitude.

I think you've done an excellent job. The blue rope doesn't bother me at all...it was there!~ The background with the rock dwellings? is subtle and really gives a sense of place. I think this is a really fine image. It must have been a wonderful trip.

Many thanks to all for your comments and advice and it's so helpful to get different opinions. I should have mentioned in the description that I believe the openings in the hillside are actually ancient tombs!
The blue rope was part of the canopy giving us shade so wouldn't have been traditional. It was a fantastic trip,Joline, and one I will always remember

Nicely composed, informal portrait, the context comes across well. My only critical comment is that his face is somewhat in shadow but could easily be lightened slightly with careful "dodging" or with the PS shadow & highlights adjustment. Still, a fine image of an unusual subject.
