Sphinx and Pyramid 2

By RosaB
I had just bought my camera at the airport on the way out!! The original picture was very wishy-washy in colour partly because there was a lot of dust in the atmosphere and it was taken at mid-day.I wasn't pleased with it at all!
I have used the software that came with my Nikon to add colour, reduce brightness, sharpen and crop.
I like the camels and carriages on the horizon but should I clone out the people in the background?
I would be pleased with any advice and comments as I want to improve! I am hoping to get photoshop elements 5 soon as was wondering if I could improve this picture anymore?
If I feel brave enough and anyone is interested I might upload the original tomorrow!

I think the color is much better in this one. I am of two minds about the people. I think leaving them in enhances the perspective, and gives a reference point for the vastness of this scene. How do the colors look to you, having seen them in real life? Do they represent the real color well? This is a fine image, and one I would be very proud of.

I liked your other picture, it's one of my favourite angles. This is nice, too, and you have done well with the colours. The trouble is, if you only have a short time to spend there, on a guided tour for instance, the sun will be very strong. Then, choosing the best angle for your camera doesn't necessarily correspond with the best angle for the sphinx or pyramids. You just have to get what you can and, as you have found, do some work when you get home ! The people give perspective. They are also REAL, when would you see the place without people?

I really like the clarity of this picture - great shot and perspective (it just shows what it looks like when not in a sandstorm!) Vivid colours too.

I've never been to Egypt but I do have a few pictures from immediately post WW2 when my dad was ther. It is somewhere I'd love to visit and this iconic picture shows it well. From a new camera too, congratulations. Penny

A place I'd love to visit too. You have an eye for composition, and although the colour in the original, and the original shot of the yachtsman, lets these shots down a bit, the edited versions you have uploaded are a great improvement. Well done, look forward to seeing more
