Finding Memories #5

By rosie42
~ Bill ~

One of 11 children, Bill is a lover of vintage and other collectable cars. His garage currently houses several such vehicles, including a 1953 Jag, a 1948 and 1975 MG and a 1929 Fiat.

Raised on his family’s farm in Northern Ireland, he remembers very little money during those years and that much of his childhood was spent carrying spuds and turnips and feeding cows, horses, ducks, calves, geese and pigs. “I was in charge of onions” he says.

A diesel mechanic by trade, Bill is known for his irreverent sense of humour and the telling of great tales, some of which are true.

This series features people who have made Tasmania their home since moving from far flung places, each a stranger to me until the day we met to make the images. Each shared with me an amazing life story and it's been an absolute pleasure to spend time listening to their memories, some of which accompany the images here.

Bill looks like he has had a very successful life in Australia and there is an impishness in his expression. John

interesting series of portraits. They are instantly recognisable as part of a series due to the consistent treatment. well done. Good stories to go with them too.

Very good this one, as is the series as a whole but I think that this is the best one. HP5 has such a recognizable presence. ljsmith used it to great effect on here as well. Funny that everytime I tried it I have longed back for Tri-x, my usual choice. But I love HP5 in the work of others. Contrats on the well deserved HC. Bert
