Where's you get your light sticks from? It's something i've looked into in the past but I couldn't find a solution i liked for a decent price.

If that's what I wanted, that's how I would have shot it 😉 It's one of a bunch from this set up to keep it fresh and differentiate. Rules are for books and need breaking or everyone who reads them will shoot the same way.

Nah, she was well behaved through out. I wanted the juxtaposition between the editorial look from the mom and the laughing baby. I have plenty of them both laughing and looking at each other too.

It's all part of the scene. A perfect image is a boring image. I have a lingerie version with a slightly different narrative with all the above, but polishing provocative narratives takes away its raw admittance.. unless you're David Lechappalle and over saturate and over photoshop everything.

That Chesterfield was bargain! Got it from the British Heart Foundation. Went in a few times and walked out having clocked it and used to always talk about it. They could see the interest and weren't selling it so dropped the price for us. All profit to them as a charity and it helped make up out mind. Our local BHF has some amazing stuff!

Yeah i bought my own lighting. I shoot mostly on grids anyways as i like hard light and controlling the spill. My biggest fear having not seen the place before hand was mirrors and space, but it weren't too bad with a bit of forward thought, prep and a willingness to be flexible. Most senario's are workable as long as you're not set on a shot/vibe that physics wont allow and can find a key light with in your options that suits the subject.

  • 1800 Tequila by russftl

Honestly? The easy answer to your questions would be because that's how i chose to shoot it and wouldn't have otherwise, hence why the images are not marked for critique. Lets hope one day the photography world isn't bashing out all the same imagery based on what is taught as right in books or we'll all be clones of each other. Give me Ellen Von Unwerth or David Lachapelle any day unless you make it your life's aspiration to bash out commercial billboards in a painting by numbers style.

Lol yeah, Ali doesn't tend to be shy. Soon as she told me about these i was like, we need to shoot them. She also had a latex catsuit with a blow up foxes tail which was pretty rad and different but i didn't really get around to shooting that properly.

I may do a series of these with different bright and busy material. Could be fun little project. We added in a few other mirrors too that she held up. It's kinda hard to break the illusion once you know what's getting on, which is weird to shoot.

It's not supposed to be a staged image, if it was polished to that degree it would lose authenticity and feel mechanical. The rest of this set is purposefully crude flash on camera aimed at the face stuff too. The hand doesn't bother me in the slightest to be honest, it's just not relevant to the narrative and is the last thing you'd look at other than to critique, plus it would change how the image sat in terms of framing. I have versions with different framing and in mono too, but much preferred colour and singled out this 'un. As the old saying goes, a perfect photo is a boring photo. Everyone read the same books that tell you how to do stuff 'right', and in a world where every one is chasing the same style and is over processing everything to be on trend, the easiest way to stand out from the crowd is to not blend in.

Thanks. I would have liked to have been more square on so the arch wasn't so distorted in the wide perspective but didn't want to block the entrance. Plus that bollard would have been a pain and i'm not really into photoshoping out reality. I do like the wheel off centre to the arch tho Smile
