Mobile Monday

By RysiekJan
Recently read an EPZ forum article on the quality of photos generated by current smart phone cameras, so I thought I would give it a try using my Huawei P20 Lite. I used the local bus station art works at evening sunset as subjects. To check the quality of the images I had to download all of the shots to the laptop and view on a monitor. Some shots warranted immediate deletion, other shots were (to my surprise) easily acceptable. Today's EPZ upload is one of the acceptable shots, though I must confess to a bit of cropping and conversion to b/w using my laptop.
In general I would give a thumbs up to smart phone cameras after this little test run.

Such a delightful image. I haven't mastered a good shot with my phone, party I think because find it difficult to hold it still enough when taking the photo.

Never close your mind (nor your heart) to the concept of new ideas. We are constantly being positively surprised.
I quite agree smart phones are progressing at a phenomenal rate as your image attests to

I made some Ok shots with my cell phone, have no idea how to get them to my computer-- This one is well thought out and accomplished!

My experiences with mobile phone photography are similar to yours, Richard. Although I have uploaded a good number now that have been well received, my success rate processing in-phone is very restricted. Since I do not upload to 'social media' (unless that includes EPZ of course) I see no reason to faff around trying to manipulate tiny files on a titchy screen when I have a decent-sized screen and excellent software at home!

Anyhow, your upload is excellent, giving plenty to keep the mind entertained as well as a super picture to appreciate.

As the author of that article, I have one question for you: did you enjoy using your mobile as much as you'd enjoy using a camera?

And the result is very impressive indeed.

I agree, good quality for a phone. Great use of the shadows too!

@dudler in response to your question. I enjoyed using the phone as a photographic tool and will use it again as such. However, to compare it's use with using a camera is a bit like comparing apples and oranges.

Nice composition . Caught the shadows very well for a cell. Milluon dollar question is When and will they ever be on par with conventional bulkier kit?
