Tree of life

By ryuneo
With this image I wanted to create a fantasy tree that was able to create life. The tree was give life by adding the human torso and hands releasing butterflies from the tangled roots. I used masks for blending the roots and torso as these give great flexibility when combining elements. I also wanted to add a sense of life to the scene by adding flowing water through the roots of the tree leading to a pond at the base of the image.

Clever idea, well executed. It is always good to see original pictures on the site.
I find it disturbing and intriguing at the same time. If it makes viewer stop and think it's got to be worth a click, like it or not!
I love the butterflies and the torso blending into the tree roots.
Welcome to epz, beware though, it rapidly becomes addictive.

Fantastic work. If you still have the layers I'd suggest a wider gradient for the body to tree transition so it looks less hard.

Ryan, your talent is amazing. Having just discovered your portfolio after looking at earthbound zebra, I'm going through one by one - I was whining on my upload about being in a blue funk, after reading your bio, I see I have nothing to whine about and need to get going so thank you on sooooo many levels.
Best regards,
