Amber Fort. built over years during the 1500s and is as Royal as it can get. rugged from outside but absolute fine architecture and luxury inside.
Jaisingh I had 12 queens ( in the old times, marriages were one way of keeping peace treaty alive with a potential rival kingdom) He built a corridor system from his quarters so that no queen knew with who the king was.. ( my son thought that was a smart dude)
The chief queen was taken from her chambers to a lattice window to watch festivities in the central courtyard in a wheel chair because she woudl be in eloborate costume and jewellery that weighed almost 25 Kilos and being delicate wouldnt be able to walk with all that weight...
The enterance has a temple for the godess with a single coral carved Ganesha at the main door. This is claimed to be the largest coral in India. a good 2" high it looked.
stories of old woudl leave you spellbound ... the luxury and royal ways of life. But one wonders esp after seeing those two boys outside, what was life like for teh common man after all!!!!
