Bridging the gap

By saltireblue
Saw this girl playing by herself on Folkestone beach on a bright and sunny day last week.

Off to play catch-up as I have been in the UK for a week and haven't been online.

Thanks for all comments on my previous upload.

Thanks for bothering.

Malc

Welcome back, we've been thinking about you, hope your visit went well.

There's a story in this, a youngster suspended in mid air, leaping forward. Except that she's heading leftwards, which suggests the past, memory. She takes me back to my own childhood. I suspect that flipping horizontally would give a more upbeat but less emotive effect.

I could live with a tighter crop here, for clean simplicity of composition. Get rid of the strip of rock at the top - OK it's context but it makes the frame oppressively top-heavy and it draws my eye away from the child. And get rid of the rock on the left.

Oh good, you've enabled Mods...

Back soon... Smile

Damn! I forgot about that boulder. I removed it in another version, but forget it in this one...
I like the feel of her jumping to the left more than to the right for some reason. Looks more natural to my eye.

Yes, the week was marvellous - will mail you later.

Moira's comments are always so interesting and instructive, I feel: and a lovely shot of this young lass obviously enjoying her own company on the beach.
And of course so well timed too.

Have to say she doesn't look like she's going to make it Grin Like your processing and Moira's crop, the shingle looks like water and gives an element of danger.

She seems to be dancing from stone to stone, like a little fairy.

I'd clone out that daft looking lump on the shingle, top left, but leave it alone otherwise.
And I like the strip of rock along the top...for me it's important, I find the image rather bare and unwelcoming otherwise.
It's a good photograph, so just let it be.
