The Fish!

By Savvouri
I arrived in Kathmandu smack in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the preparations for their Dashain festival. It was evening and everyone was preparing for the big day. I was passing this fishmonger and i just loved the look on the little girl's face.. I also had this up in the critique gallery!

it is a super image though for me the bright light is a disagreeable distraction. but take it from me i fully appreciate the difficulty in getting a balance in a pic like this without say the use of flash the over exposed light is exagerated with digital images. one way you could avoid this is to bracket your shot & then in ps copy & paste one over the other & then use the history brush to bring back the perfectly exposed objects in the image leaving an underexposed light that would be less invasive. sure when you have people in the image its rare they stay still enough to get exactly the same image in 2 or 3 frames. some cameras though do provide a feature that allows you to pre-set this type of exposure compensation.

Funnily enough nepal is apparently the second most endowed country in the world in terms of hydropower and fresh water supply! There is a big problem in Kathmandu however with most rivers being heavily polluted. Lets hope the fish here are not from the Bagmati river!

Great shot, I Love the little girls expression, shame about the light being so bright but the lighting it's produced on the fish and girl is really nice.

terrific photo. like the perspective with the fish in the fg. Bit of a shame about the light, but it far from spoils the photo. very good
