Bundi....a hidden gem of Rajasthan

By sawsengee
Bundi..... a location in Rajasthan that is deep in history, culture, tradition & away from the tourist crowd (for the time being).... a true hidden gem yet to be discovered on a big scale (a blessing in disguise). Shown here are the massive face of the rambling Bundi Palace on top, the Moti Mahal building complex & a chhatri on the left seemingly floating on the water of Nawal Sagar.

Hi Peter, thank you so much for the UA....Bundi is a fairytale location & setting with very few foreign tourists. I took the chance & stayed there for 6 days, could have been longer & still enjoyed the quiet winding alleyways, friendly simple people, no rush in your adrenaline...I will definitely revisit it for a longer stay. Till then, I have hundreds of lovely photos of Bundi to relish. Best regards....ee Grin

never visited the place myself.. would feel very good during monsoons.. just to be able to live with that culture.. walking in those crumbling streets with the earthy fragrance oozing from bare, withered bricks.. and eating those local, spicy delicacies - mirhchi pakodas, samosas... and sweet jalebis.. you must have enjoyed a lot.. and walk in the rain once in a while.. certainly a place a local man and a foreigner would enjoy very differently.. for me, this makes me very nostalgic because I have live in this kind of place for first 17 years of my life.. (not exactly the same kind of place.. but with a somewhat resembling culture.. in part)

a fine capture with nice lighting..

A little worried by the enthusiasm shown about this hidden gem as well as your words.. looks like the peace of this little town is gone.. God save it from becoming a heaven for drug addicts and hippies.. Sad
Beautifully composed, a stunning location with some fine architecture, lovely tones and reflections. Thanks for sharing the link.

What an amazing place ee, it says so much about the culture and even the people that built it. A wonderful reflection too, but I don't think I'd tackle a Jig Saw Puzzle of it Smile
