Monochrome Moor...

By Scottishlandscapes
...I decided it was time I posted some monochrome images. A few images some new some posted in colour before. See what you think.

I used the blue channel in Channel Mixer, as suggested by Adrian Wilson. "Thanks Ade".

Fine mono. Like the light on f/g rock, ice detail & band of cloud.

Some landscapes lend themselves to mono and some don't but it also relies very much on the treatment.
This works beautifully Dougie and has been so well produced. I look forward to more.

I've been working on a few mono shots, most of the tips are from Ade's work. I do listen to what he says, but I don't think he believes me.

I am not really keen on monochrome shots in this aera of brilliant colours, but you managed to get some real good details in this bonnie picture my friend. The frozen surface of oor wee loch, the drift of mist and the texture in the fg rock are brilliant.
Have then a quiet weekend and a good rest,

He always gets there ahead of me... Yep, it's that band of cloud. Very effective in mono, and very cold.

You can thank Ade the mighty, it's a wonderful tool, I wonder if money was spent at the EX? He was adamant he was buying something from another source, but who knows when you get there on the day?

I'm not a great fan of mono but some images just come alive .... like this one ...the lighting is so amazing and probably shows up better. There's lots of interesting things to look at too. A really beautiful composition Dougie.

The conversion has worked really well, as here it helps to have a great composition and the square format puts you right there, top notch indeed.

I'd not seen this one Dougie - got a new keyboard and that's taken over my life at the mo Smile

Blue Channel makes an interesting alternative to the 60/40 red/green conversions of tradition.

here it makes the whites of the now and the distant sky seem friendly and inviting

ta for the credit Smile

Wonderful conversion Dougie. Having just upgraded to CS3, I plan to spend more time experimenting with B&W conversions.
