Loch Broom Weather...

By Scottishlandscapes
...a black layer of cloud was rolling in off the sea, blocking the blue sky and sun shine, it was still stormy & I was glad we were sailing later in the day. This was the first image I shot as I arrived in Ullapool to meet my friend Kin and start our Amazing Journey.

The weather looked a bit rougher than what you later got. Moody indeed

Sounds interesting this journey Doug. It certainly starts with a storm. Ron.
I've jumped about along the way and now I'm back at the start again, I wont be going over the whole ground again, just a little step back.

This looks very threatening Dougie - what a mass of black clouds to sail into... ahoi captain, it can only get better!
But as we know it turned out well...
Have a great day dear friend,

A great captur of a brooding sky, not the best of sailing weather.

Some sky that. Think I'd be reluctant to go sailing - glad you're not as chicken as me Smile

The weather did improve quite a lot Jon before we sailed later in the day.

Great drama in the sky, nice low horizon to give it plenty of space. I like the little boat, this wouldn't work half as well without it.

The bank of cloud sure looks threatening and the wee boat is well placed in the image.

Dark and brooding feel to this Dougie, just about how it is looking out of my window right now, but without the excitement of your amazing journey to come.

I like the simple, strong composition using the boat and sea to anchor the main subject, that fantastic looking sky.

you've certainly caught some good light in this scene Dougie I like the positioning of the boat in the composition.

All the best.
Kin
Hey Peter, it's a spray, how could you paint the flag of St Andrew in the sky?

Cheers Kin, I've been sitting on this one for a while now, I'm glad it didn't date.

Yep, that lools like typical Highland weather to me - all the seasons in one day! Makes for a wonderfully dramatic pic though.

All the best,

Enlarge this one, Dougie, frame it & hang it on the wall. I love the light behind those dark clouds.
