Tolsta Breakers...

By Scottishlandscapes of the many wonderful beaches on Lewis & Harris, the western beaches are almost pure white sand, this one is quite red. A magical hour with my photographer pal Kin, no sunbathing here the wind was sharp and cold as charity.

Wonderful and those colours in the sea, just sublime Smile

Had a mishap with 5D and 17-40mm lens today, was stolen from car along with laptop and a camera bag and a manfrotto tri-pod.

Really gutted as my car insurance cover will only cover 400.00 of it and home insurance does not include away from home cover, even though I know we asked for that but it has not been included, so a little depressed to say the least right now :-(

That's just Hellish news Dave, I'm away to check my insurance right now.

Great shot of the beach Dougie. Better light than we had on Friday. Bad news about Dave's bad luck. Hope the scum bags have a severe mishap.

We can only hope. Never seems to happen to them though.

A super image Douggie, great composition and excellent capture of the waves. Love the way you've captured the water receeding over the sand.

Like the composition Dougie, the colours from beach to open sea give a good "layer" effect.

Flare on the rock caused the problem, tnks for pointing it out.
A beautifully captured seascape that makes you feel as if you are there. Just beautiful, Dougie.

Great image Doug, did you use a grad? Cliffs on the left look a little darker than the overall image.

Dave, I'm really sorry to hear whats happened. I would go down the path of shouting at your home insurance and telling them you did ask for it and pushing it. Good luck.

All the best, Tommy

Wonderful sands and no one on the beach! Lovely water so nicely caught and the rocky cliffs at the back are inviting for a walk to the far end. Excellent image once again Dougie.

I like the choice of panoramic format on this, and the have perfectly captured the mood here. I've one small niggle, and that is the image is a touch too dark to the left (particularly on the land), and it keeps dragging my eye across to it. It's still a beauty, regardless.

All the best,

Now you're talking Dougie, the coast - just up my street (or perhaps I should say beach) and a great one it is too, lovely shot

I see what Pete means but it's a minor thing. Good to see some seascapes up there because if I do visit, I'll probably head to the coast first despite all the grand scenery elsewhere.
