Welcome to Scotland, the bonniest country I know, Lochs, Mountains, wonderful reflections. Have a wander through my pages and see if you find anything to whet your appetite for a visit to my homeland.

I'm a retired professional and still learning every day.

Thanks for all your support in the past and maybe in the future too.

EPZ our site

My first blog since I joined EPZ some years back, I've learned so much from fellow photographers, rank beginners all the way up to professionals. They use every kind of camera under the sun, whizz sliders across computer screens with huge abandon, sit for hours tinkering with an image and are shot down in flames seconds after posting, or worst of all totally ignored.
We are a fickle lot which seems to go with the hobby we all love so much. Some people use quite simple equipment and others indulge in the most expensive, but the most important item we take with us is not in the camera bag but our own eyes. Seeing what is going on around us and finding the unusual, the quirky and the banal and making them interesting through the medium of our hobby.
The point I'm rambling towards is a compliment to you all, I've just had the most enjoyable two hours on EPZ, six wonderful images made me smile and wonder at the dedication of you all. Some work five days a week and longer but still find the energy and will to get out there with your camera and find something to inspire you. Anyway I now have to choose a winner of my award, no easy task on this so special day.

But take a bow every last one of you, you make the experience of our site a joy to be savoured and tasted for the rest of the day until we can log on again and find out how our image got on in the thousands that are posted each and every day.
A special thanks to the team who work behind the scenes and give us all the tricks and gimmicks plus the almost seamless use of the best photo site I know of.

Look forward to getting the urge to write some more soon.

Nice to see someone going in to print to complement rather than denegrate. It is a great site Dougie. I have tried others including flickr and they just don't have the same friendly (on the whole) atmosphere I experience here.

Wise words, one thing that photographing has learnt me and many more is to see things with a different approach.

I completely agree with you Dougie - not the perfection in taking images makes this site, but the many different ones we're allowed to enjoy every day (well... I missed so many days in the past, kitchen is now under way, as soon as is finished I hope to get back here). I've learned more or less everything I know about photography on this site.
